Here I was earlier today, getting dressed, thinking it was nice and warm like it was ALL DAY yesterday. Until I look at the weather (I always look at the weather app on my phone) and realize it's 50 degrees. Wait. What? So I had to change my whole outfit. Naturally. I went a little darker today because it seemed to match my mood and the weather, obviously. But as the day has gone on, it's been getting warmer. When I say Texas has crazy weather, I mean it. It's no joke. So as lovely as it is outside, I have decided to stay in today. Although, I did get a shot of what I wore. How could I not? :) I'm also going to go ahead and include a close up face shot. Simply because I just switched make up brands and bought a darker foundation for everyday and for contouring: Friday (gonna get down on Friiiiday): #ootd- Crop sweater: Forever21 Highwaisted Jeans: Macy's Boots: GoJane.com #Makeupoftheday- Foundations: Both are by Maybelline in 330-Toffee Caramel and 355- Coconut Powder: 530- Classic Beige by Covergirl Blush: off brand that I got for Christmas.. it's a chocolate color. Lip: Va Va Violet by Revlon Personally, I enjoy the warmer weather than the colder weather, so it's always a struggle for me to actually care about what I wear when it's cold. Mainly because I just want to keep warm! haha But I think I pulled it off okay, both with the outfit and the make up! What do you think? Are you a summer or winter kinda person? Does your make up change during each season? Sound off... -Nat.

Hello all! Another day, another fashion selfie. So today, I not only wanted to post another picture from my challenge but I wanted to talk about something I saw on twitter earlier today. [PLUG: my twitter is -> nene_so_fly). I was scrolling through twitter, rewteeting mostly, when I came across a picture of a woman on the runway (model unknown) and her midriff was showing. The quote that went along with it was by Karl Lagerfeld, who is the creative director for Chanel: "Midriff is the new cleavage." That got me to thinking about how true this statement is. I mean, crop tops have been around for a couple of years now and they haven't stopped growing in popularity. I admit that I have my fair share, if not more, of crop tops and midriff tops. Now, since I'm not you're average skinny girl, I like to be a lot less daring than that of someone who has abs. Right now it's all about showing off what you got. Personally, I love them. I have a couple (2 exactly) that show way to much skin for my taste but it was cute and I thought I looked good in it. That's pretty much what the trend is for crop tops and midriff baring tops. If you FEEL good in it, then your confidence about yourself goes up. The more confidence you have, the more people will take notice of you. Basically, it's what cleavage was back in, what, the 2000's? It's taken the world by storm! That doesn't mean that someone is going to go out and show off nothing but her belly all the time (come on, it does get cold). No, it just means that sometimes, you need a little "dare" to help boost your confidence and how you see yourself. On that note, this is my #ootd for Thursday: For today, I wasn't feelin too good when I woke up. So I decided to go a little more relaxed than earlier in the week. I have on a Charlotte Russe lacey crop top in nude; with a pair of Maurices boyfriend jeans (that I got for a bargain!). Paired with a pair of Forever21 tennis in white. Once again, my hair is natural and I have my glasses in. My make up is simple with a pink lip. I want to know how YOU feel about crop tops or just young people showing their midriff in general. Is it flattering? Harsh? Can anybody pull it off? Sound off. -Nat Naturally, I'm posting another selfie. 1. Beause it's a challenge for myself. I'm trying to like who I am. and 2. Because I'm still getting the hang of this blogging thing. As time passes, I hope to get into other interests. For instance talking about diferent outfit ideas, what's going on in the industry, and my take on different fashion trends. As well as SHOES(!), what inspires me and what may inspire my readers style. But for now, I will finish my "Style Week Challenge" and go from there. I'm gearing up for Spring as you can tell in the picture below! While other's may experience seasons in a normal occurance. Us Texans, may experience all the seasons in just one week! Now, you might be thinking, "Omg no way!" But yes, I absolutely HATE Texas weather, but damn if I don't love my state! lol My style inspiration is in part due to the fabulous weather we've been having lately. When the sun is out, I take every chance to enjoy as much of it as I can. Wednesdays outfit: I wore Forever21 high waisted boyfriend jeans (F21 is my GO TO store). Paired it with a light flowy blue rhinestoned crop tank from Charlotte Russe with some blue sandals I've had for years. Also, my hair is natural today aka it's a curly mess but I think it goes with the outfit! I wanted my make up to reflect how the weather was, so I did a springy/summery look, bold eyes with a pink lip (bare minerals). PS- I had my first boxing class last night and I swear I almost died! Which is part of the reason why I decided to go with something with no sleeves and comfortable (but still cute!). As this is my FIRST BLOG POST EVER (sorry don't mean to be too excited there). I just graduated college and lately I have been feeling sluggish and I feel like I'm in a rut. So I decided to challenge myself to a week of dressing up for fun and making my outfits super cute and chic. I wanted to do this not only for myself but for you all, because even though you are stuck at home, are unemployed, or just don't have errands to run, you can still look fabulous. No need to go out and buy a new outfit to make yourself feel pretty. Just look through your closet and see what things you have! Since today is tuesday, I have below, in a short gallery, the outfits I wore today and yesterday. Monday- I paired my Rue21 animal print joggers with a Guns & Roses crop top and a Hot Topic Jacket to make it all come together. I figured the bright yellow and red from the top would compliment the joggers perfectly. I LOVE a red lip, so you will be seeing me mostly in reds (make up wise). The boots are Steve Madden 2014 collection and the purse is from Forever 21. Tuesday (today): I paired my Betsy Johnson Jacket (2012 collection I think?) with my Material Girl romper (that I scored for just $3 at Macy's!!) with some L.A. slip ons and a cute pony/edgy pony tail. Again, I have on a red matte lip and went lighter on the makeup than before. Now, it's YOUR turn. I challenge you to do the same and feel free to submit pics and such. It's time to feel good about yourself again! Also, if anyone is interested in what all I use, make up wise, hit the comment box and let me know! Hope this was as enjoyable for you as it was for me to write it! |
